I was drawn to the U of M's Medical Reserve Corps for several reasons. I have always enjoyed helping people and wanted to be an asset in the case of a public emergency. The possibility of being on a team that is deployed to help others is something I imagined myself doing.
Secondly, I thought it would be a good experience to see how the MRC operates during a public health emergency. I also didn't see any other group that I could join that involved a group comprised of doctors, nurses, faculty, staff, and students all working together.
I have attended Logistic Strike Team Meetings, and was involved in providing logistical support during the Just in Time Training Drill.
