Just in Time Training Drill: Meningococcal B Disease

Time: Half hour shifts beginning at 11:00am and ending at 1:00pm
Location: Minneapolis- Recreation and Wellness Center
Participants: All U of M MRC members

What is Just in Time Training?
Just in time training (JITT) is training that occurs immediately preceding an emergency response shift. JITT takes approximately 20 minutes and provides the following:

  • Incident Overview
  • Review of Incident Command system
  • Description of Role duties and responsibilities
  • Site Map and Flow

Drill Scenario
Meningococcal B disease outbreak on campus requiring hundreds of Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) members to assist with the vaccination of undergraduate student population.

Member Time Commitment

  • 30 minutes for MRC members participating in Just in Time Training

During the Drill MRC members will:

  • Go through security check point with photo ID (license, MRC ID badge, or Ucard)
  • Sign in at Staff Registration
  • Receive “just in time training”
  • Pick up lunch (optional) and return to Staff Registration to check out

Prior to the Drill:

  • Review the list of staff roles that will receive training at the drill and select one you could fill in a mass vaccination clinic.
  • The staff roles are:
    • Forms Reviewer-this role can be filled by students, staff, and faculty in Pharmacy, Nursing, Medicine, and Dentistry
    • Registration Clerk- this role can be filled by any member (no medical license needed)
    • Supply Staff- this role can be filled by any member (no medical license needed)
    • Usher- this role can be filled by any member (no medical license needed)
    • Vaccine Injector-this role can be filled by a nurse, physician, pharmacist, or dentist
