MRC Project Specialist
Oona received her Masters in Public Health in Global Health from St. Catherine University, focusing on Health Equity and Environmental Health. She has studied and worked extensively on food, water/WASH, and climate change in the context of public health as well as having backgrounds in EMS and wilderness medicine, mental health counseling, and alternative medicine modalities.
In the past several years, Oona has served in the pandemic as part of Hennepin County’s COVID Response Task Force as well as developed curricula in sustainable disaster response and social justice public health teachings. Additionally, she has dedicated over twenty years to social and environmental justice work including migrant solidarity and humanitarian aid work at the US/Mexico border, community mutual aid work in food security and sovereignty, and is a long-time volunteer street medic. She has a passion for emergency preparedness and response and is honored to be joining the HERO team.
