Over the past two years, our MRC was deployed in record numbers. You all stepped up to serve not only the University but the greater community. It gives me a huge sense of pride to share with you our first ever annual report as well as a special edition focused on COVID-19 response. The time, effort, and expertise of our membership shines, and I hope you all realize how genuinely grateful our team at HERO is for your involvement and willingness to serve. You are so appreciated.

Opportunity for involvement: Climate Resilience Champions
We know members have diverse interests, and though this is not affiliated with our MRC, it is an opportunity to support one of our members in his DNP project.
The Minnesota Climate Adaptation Partnership (MCAP), an extension program of the University of Minnesota, and Kent Boyd, a Doctor of Nursing Practice student, are seeking healthcare providers who are interested in empowering community resilience in the face of a changing climate and environment. Those interested will attend training workshops to gain an in-depth understanding of climate resilience hubs, hear from guest speakers specializing in climate resilience, tools to assess community vulnerability, and skills for activating their voices to advocate for their communities. Individuals who complete these series of workshops will be labeled Climate Resilience Champions and become members of a network MCAP will utilize as leaders for resilience hub implementation in Minnesota communities.

Interim Assistant Director, Urgent Crisis Therapist, Boynton Health
I have been part of the MRC since 2015, and was recruited while under the mentorship of Dr. Tai Mendenhall. I was deployed twice during COVID response. I have taken on a new leadership role as Behavioral Health Strike Team co-lead with Dr. Mendenhall. I look forward to continued collaboration with MRC and hope to contribute to our work preparing campus stakeholders in the event of a disaster.
