The Health Emergency Response Office (formerly the Academic Health Center Office of Emergency Response) was established in 2004 and has system-wide responsibilities.

Timely, efficient, and effective responses

Ensure health incidents and emergencies affecting the University community are addressed in a timely, efficient, and effective manner while utilizing resources and expertise available both internal and external to the University.


Coordinate and organize campus resources and provide educational opportunities

Coordinate and organize campus resources to assist community partners during local, state, or national health emergencies, and in so doing, provide unique educational and experiential opportunities for students, staff, and faculty.


Minimize disruption to clinical and health science research operations

Ensure incident response efforts impacting the clinical and health science research enterprise are well coordinated to minimize disruption to essential operations.
